The clinical picture of Alzheimer's disease is important, as it is often on the basis of history and observation that a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease is made.
There may be a progression of features with initial memory loss, followed by language and visuospatial changes. Later in the disease frontal lobe features may appear such as snout, sucking, rooting, and even grasp reflexes and movements may become stereotyped. Non-cognitive symptoms are also common.
