The clinical features of Fourniere's Gangrene often follow a standard progression:
- initial features of systemic sepsis:
- tachycardia
- sweating
- pyrexia
- malaise
- genital pain and tenderness
- skin oedema in the perineum or genitalia
- erythema of perineal or genitalia skin
- ecchymosis, blistering or epidermolysis of skin
- subcutaneous crepitus
- worsening pain out of proportion to the visible signs
- fixed staining and then necrosis of skin
- often an open wound with serosanguinous discharge
