If atrial tachycardia is a sign of digoxin toxicity then stop digoxin and treat accordingly.
Potassium should be measured and maintained at 4-5 mmol/l.
Further treatment of atrial tachycardia may divided into three sections:
- termination of the atrial tachycardia:
- disopyramide (IA)
- flecainide (IC)
- amiodarone (III)
- DC cardioversion
- control of the ventricular rate:
- digoxin (unless digoxin toxic already)
- verapamil (IV)
- beta-blockers (II)
- prophylaxis:
- disopyramide (IA)
- flecainide (IC)
- amiodarone (III)
