Clinical features include:

  • altered body composition
    • increased abdominal adiposity
    • reduced skeletal muscle mass
  • reduced bone mineral density
  • fatigue, reduced exercise tolerance
  • dry, thin skin
  • psychological features including
    • depression
    • anxiety
    • emotional lability
  • raised plasma cholesterol, low HDL
