Type I (subendothelial deposits):
- tumours and chronic lymphatic leukaemia
- infections - hepatitis B, schistosomiasis, post-streptococcal, endocarditis, visceral abscess
- mixed essential cryoglobulinaemia
- systemic lupus erythematous
- alpha1-antitrypsin deficiency
- shunt nephritis
Type II (intramembranous deposits):
- partial lipodystrophy
- candidiasis
Complement deficiency is associated with both types.
