Reversible neurological symptoms include:
- peripheral neuropathy:
- requires transplantation
- pruritus:
- responds to oral antihistamines
- restless legs:
- responds to clonazepam (0.5 mg p.r.n.)
- carpal tunnel syndroem:
- requires surgical decompression
Dementia is usually irreversible. Desferrioxamine, which reduces aluminium levels in the brain, may be beneficial.
