Bartter's syndrome is characterized by

  • hypokalaemia
  • hypochloraemia
  • there may be hyponatraemia
  • alkalosis
  • raised urinary sodium, potassium, and chloride
  • volume contraction
  • raised renin and aldosterone
  • normal blood pressure

Plasma levels of bradykinin are raised and there is raised PGE2 excretion.
