Causes of pain after dentistry include:
- infection of tooth or gums
- trauma or unsatisfactory filling
- wrong tooth treated
- root from an extracted tooth remains, causing osteitis
- jaw pain referred from elsewhere
and may require:
- referral back to the dentist
- analgesics
- antibiotics
