In general the drugs used in chemotherapy have a poor therapeutic ratio, often causing side effects which may be severe. Broadly they can be divided into non-specific and specific side effects, the former being caused by most chemotherapeutic agents, the latter caused by specific agents.
In addition, potential emergencies should be considered.
