The main drugs used in the treatment of re-entrant supraventricular tachycardia are:
- adenosine:
- a potent inhibitor of the atrioventricular node
- interupts the re-entrant circuit
- is short acting
- verapamil:
- inhibits the atrioventricular node
- should not be given with beta-blockers
Other drugs which may be effective include:
- flecainide
- sotalol
- disopyramide
