clinical syndromes in endocrinology

The following are common association of symptoms:

  • thyrotoxicosis:
    • heat intolerance, weight loss, polyphagia, palpitations, increased sweating, nervousness irritability, diarrhoea, amenorrhoea, weakness, exertional dyspnoea

  • hypothyroidism:
    • cold intolerance, lethargy, swollen eyelids, hoarse voice, constipation, coarse skin

  • diabetes mellitus:
    • polyuria, polydipsia, thirst, polyphagia, weakness, infections, groin itch

  • hypoglycaemia:
    • morning headache, weight gain, seizures, sweating, tremor

  • primary adrenal insufficiency:
    • skin pigmentation, tiredness, loss of weight, anorexia, nausea, diarrhoea, nocturia, mental changes, seizures

  • acromegaly:
    • fatigue, weakness, sweating, heat intolerance, weight gain, enlarging hands, feet and facial features, headache, visual defects, voice change, decreased libido, impotence
