complications of dengue fever

  • fluid overload
    • caused by overenthusiastic treatment and too rapid hydration
    • patients have pulmonary oedema, facial congestion, increased JVP or ascites
    • restriction of IV fluids and bolus doses of intravenous furosemide (frusemide) can be used to manage until the patient is stable
