complications of dengue fever
- fluid overload
- caused by overenthusiastic treatment and too rapid hydration
- patients have pulmonary oedema, facial congestion, increased JVP or ascites
- restriction of IV fluids and bolus doses of intravenous furosemide (frusemide) can be used to manage until the patient is stable
- acalculous sholecystitis
- acute respiratory syndrome
- rhabdomyolysis
- postviral fatigue syndrome
- myocarditis
- hepatitis
- hepatic encephalopathy
- encephalitis
- acute pancreatitis
- acute appendicitis
- acute renal failure
- haemophagocytic syndrome
