Problems which may occur include:

  • flow problems
  • skin reactions
  • drug incompatibility or precipitation
  • management problems

Staff using syringe drivers must be adequately trained and different rate settings must be clearly indicated and differentiated: incorrect use of syringe drivers is a common cause of drug errors.
