Urolift procedure (prostatic urethral lift)

  • Day Case, NICE approved

  • Minimal side-effects, no catheter necessary in the majority
  • Preserves sexual function oSuccessful in about 2/3 of patients
  • Repeatable, does not preclude subsequent TURP, laser or treatment of prostate cancer

Urolift procedure is unsuitable for the following groups

  • Patients in urinary retention requiring indwelling catheter
  • Patients with history of treatment of prostate cancer (radiotherapy or hormones)
  • Patients with large prostates (>80 ml)
  • Patients with middle lobe protrusion (but can be dealt at the time of Urolift)
