Vesicular appearance and pruritus of DH may result in misdiagnosis of the condition. It may be mistaken for more common dermatological conditions:

  • in children
    • scabies
    • atopic eczema
    • papular urticaria
    • impetigo

  • in adults
    • contact eczema
    • other autoimmune blistering diseases - especially IgA linear disease and bullous pemphigoid
    • nodular prurigo
    • urticaria
    • polymorphic erythema
