Investigations in Gorlin's Syndrome are only warranted for specific clinical findings. There is no commercial test for abnormalities in chromosome 9; the history and examination are usually all that is needed for diagnosis. Ideally, ionizing radiation should be avoided in the potentially susceptible Gorlin's Syndrome patient, but where indicated, a dental tomogram may be indicated. Equally, a brain MRI would only be useful if there are symptoms or signs suggestive of intracranial abnormality.
