leukocoria

Most commonly due to:

  • congenital cataract
  • retrolental fibroplasia
  • corneal scarring - ocular toxocariasis
  • persistence of the tunica vasculosa lentis
  • retinoblastoma

Any child with leukocoria should be refered to an ophthalmologist for consideration of examination under anaesthetic.
