Interactions of tacrine include:
- it may block the action of anticholinergic agents
- action of cholinomimetics may be increased
- blood concentrations of tacrine may be increased by concurrent use of cimetidine
- blood concentrations may be reduced by smoking
- there may be an increased risk of bleeding in patients receiving non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents
- tacrine has been reported to increase serum concentrations of theophylline and thus theophylline levels should be monitored when using tacrine and theophylline together
