atypical presentations of thyrotoxicosis

These may include:

  • atrial arrhythmias in middle aged patients
  • severe proximal myopathy with normal CK values
  • deterioration or unmasking of myasthenia gravis
  • hypokalaemic periodic paralysis - especially in orientals
  • chronic diarrhoea
  • hypercalcaemia
  • osteoporosis
  • gynaecomastia
