treatment of acute dystonia due to phenothiazines
Last reviewed 04/2022
Procyclidine and benztropine, given parenterally, are effective emergency treatment for acute drug-induced dystonic reactions with phenothiazines and related drugs e.g. procyclidine 5mg intravenously or intramuscularly.
Tardive dyskinesia is not improved by the use of anti-muscarinic drugs.
