Nephritic syndrome may be caused by:
- post streptococcal group A beta haemolytic infection resulting in glomerulonephritis
- any other cause of glomerulonephritis
- post viral infection
- ventricular shunts
- infective endocarditis
- Henoch Schonlein purpura
- systemic lupus erythematosus
