meningovascular syphilis

Meningovascular syphilis presents as either:
- a subacute meningitis that often occurs with cranial nerve palsies and papilloedema
- focal neurological signs as a result of a gumma forming as an intracranial mass. The condition may present with epilepsy, raised intracranial pressure and focal deficits, e.g. hemiplegia.
- spinal meningovascularitis may cause a paraparesis
