- hypothyroidism
- cerebrovascular accident - the BB isoenzyme from the brain
- hyperthermia, for example in malignant hyperpyrexia
- neuroleptic malignant syndrome
- hypothermia
- intramuscular injections - a very variable effect
- viral infections
