There are a variety of characteristic presentations of myasthenia gravis:
- Group I - ocular myasthenia gravis - symptoms remain confined to the ocular muscles.
- Group IIA, B - mild or moderately severe generalised myasthenia gravis
- Group III - acute severe disease with respiratory muscle involvement
- Group IV - late chronic disease - pelvic and lower limbs may be involved
