calcium channel blockers
Last reviewed 01/2018
These drugs inhibit the transport of calcium into cells via the L-type calcium channel.
A major effect is to cause the relaxation of the vascular smooth muscle in small arterioles resulting in reduced peripheral vascular resistance.
They also promote the dilatation of coronary arteries.
