partial lipodystrophy
Last reviewed 03/2021
Patients with mesangiocapillary glomerulonephritis type 2 may develop a symetrical loss of subcutaneous fat from the face. The resulting gaunt facies is characteristic.
There may be accompanying fat loss from the arms, trunk and hips.
A quarter of patients with partial lipodystrophy have nephritis and a larger proportion have low C3.
