phosphate compounds (energy)

A number of compound convey energy to and from reactions within the cell by the formation and breakage of bonds with organic phosphate. The bonds are usually formed by esterification and are broken by hydrolysis.
Examples of such compounds include:
- adenosine phosphate compounds
- creatinine phosphate
- guanosine phosphate compounds
