Presentation:
Persistent eye watering and mucopurulent discharge during the first month of life is the usual presentation of congenital lacrimal duct obstruction. Generally affects only one eye (bilateral in 20%). Usually the affected eye is white with no evidence of inflammation. There may be episodes of increased discharge with conjunctival hyperaemia during a secondary conjunctivitis. Other important causes of a watery eye in infancy include congenital glaucoma, keratitis, uveitis.
