Gum hypertrophy may be caused by various drugs including:
- phenytoin
- nifedipine
- cyclosporin
- oral contraceptive with high oestrogen concentration - now uncommon
Other causes of gum hypertrophy include:
- scurvy
- pregnancy
- gingivitis
- acute leukaemia - typically acute myeloid leukaemia
