drug-induced cholestasis

Drugs which can cause cholestasis include:

  • oral contraceptive pill
  • sensitivity reaction to:
    • chlorpromazine and other phenothiazines
    • erythromycin
    • sulphonamides
    • tricyclic antidepressants
    • sulphonylureas
    • penicillamine
    • gold
  • dose-related cholestasis complicates 17-alkylated steroid therapy

Note that halothane causes a hepatic necrosis, not a cholestasis.
