vulval dystrophy

A variety of terms have been used to describe disorders of vulval epithelial growth including:
- kraurosis vulvae - "dry" vulva
- leukoplakia - white plaques
- lichen sclerosus et atrophicus - lichen sclerosus with atrophic change
- hyperplastic vulvitis
The most recent classification by the International Society for the Study of Vulvar Diseases recommend three categories:
- hyperplastic dystrophy
- lichen sclerosus
- mixed dystrophy
