gastric stasis and gastritis

- metoclopramide - first line for gastric stasis
- oral:10mg - 20mg qds before meals
- s.c. : 30-100mg/24hr
- domperidone is an alternative to metoclopramide
- oral: 10mg-20mg qds
- p.r. 30-60mg tds
- note that domperidone does not cross the blood brain barrier so fewer side effects
- proton pump inhibitors are used in gastritis
- an antiflatulent eg Asilone 5-10ml qds helps as a defoaming agent
