The posterior basal segmental bronchus of the left inferior lobe bronchus ramifies to form the bronchial tree of the posterior basal segment of the inferior lobe. The posterior basal bronchopulmonary segment is supplied uniquely by the posterior basal segmental bronchus; it forms a discrete functional unit.
