Two thirds of patients undergoing balloon dilatation of the prostate report temporary relief of the symptoms of bladder outflow obstruction. Objective measures of disease tend to indicate a lack of efficacy.
Balloon dilatation of the prostate is now reserved for very unfit patients who cannot undergo any other procedure.
