diagnostic criteria

A diagnosis of adult Still's disease requires five of the following criteria, including two or more major criteria:
- major criteria:
- fever of 39 deg.C.
- arthralgia
- typical rash
- salmon-pink, maculopapular, evanescent, pruritic
- neutrophil leukocytosis
þ minor criteria:
- sore throat
- lymphadenopathy +/- splenomegaly
- liver dysfunction
- negative rheumatoid factor and anti-nuclear factor
The serum ferritin level is usually grossly elevated.
Exclusions:
- infection
- malignancy
- rheumatic disease
