Apley's grinding test

Apley's grinding test attempts to detect meniscal lesions in the knee.
The patient is laid prone and the knee is flexed. The examiner then holds the foot and applies force vertically, attempting to grind any meniscle tags within the joint.
The test is positive if there is pain.
