signs of infective endocarditis

Signs of infective endocarditis include:
- pyrexia
- new or changing murmurs
- signs of embolism
- signs of heart failure
- Osler's nodes, splinter haemorrhages, Janeway lesions
- anaemia - normochromic, normocytic
- the ESR is usually raised, though the WBC count is usually normal
- splenomegaly - usually palpable after about 6 weeks of illness
- clubbing may occur after 1-2 months
