oesophageal stricture

Oesophageal strictures are a narrowing of the oesophagus.
The patient may present with dysphagia or impaction of a food bolus.
The causes of oesophageal stricture include:
- oesophageal carcinoma
- chronic acid reflux
- caustic injury
- chronic iron deficiency (Plummer-Vinson syndrome)
