knee osteoarthritis

Last reviewed 01/2023

In the knee, primary osteoarthritis tends to particularly affect the posterior aspect of the patella and the medial compartment of the knee.

Patients with this condition thus tend to develope a varus deformity.

Secondary osteoarthritis may follow a variety of conditions such as ligament or meniscus injury, recurrent patella dislocation, osteochondritis dissecans, joint infection or other insult.
