fish tapeworm

Last reviewed 01/2018

Fish tapeworm is contracted from the consumption of raw, infected fish, causing dyphyllobothriasis.

The condition causes abdominal discomfort, fatigue, diarrhoea which alternates with constipation, dizziness and urticaria.

Chronically the condition may result in vitamin B12 deficiency.

Treatment is with niclosamide or praziquantel (not on the UK market).
