The criteria for the diagnosis of transient epileptic amnesia are:

  • a history of repeated episodes of transient amnesia affected anterograde and/or retrograde memory

  • there should be no other cognitive impairment

  • there should be evidence of epilepsy:
    • EEG
    • co-occurence with other seizure types
    • clear improvement on anti-epileptic therapy
