The pericardiophrenic artery:

  • is a branch of the internal thoracic artery on each side that originates at the level of the lower margin of the manubrium
  • runs with the phrenic nerve
  • supplies on route:
    • phrenic nerve
    • pleura
    • pericardium
    • diaphragm; minimal contribution
