serous ovarian tumours

These account for about 20-50% of ovarian tumours. Histologically, papilliferous patterns are common. They are bilateral in 30% of cases. Commonly occur in women 30-40 years of age.
Benign serous cystadenomas:
- 60% of serous tumours
- 25% of all benign ovarian tumours
- 100% 10 year survival
Borderline serous tumours:
- 10% of serous tumours
- 75% 10 year survival
Malignant serous cystadenocarcinoma:
- 30% of serous tumours
- 40-50% of all malignant ovarian tumours - most common
- bilateral in 65% of cases
- 15% 10 year survival as often widely disseminated at time of diagnosis
