24-hour tape

Last reviewed 01/2018

This is where a continuous ECG is used in order to detect intermittent myocardial ischaemia or paroxysmal arrhythmias.

Procedure: patient wears monitoring equipment for 24 hour period in order to document the cardiac rhythm during a symptomatic period. The monitors can be programmed to be sensitive to the ST segment so that they may be used to assess putative ischaemia.
