factor IX concentrate

This is available in freeze dried form and is used to treat haemophilia B and occasionally, liver disease.
It is prepared from large pools of donor plasma and so is heat treated to minimise the infection risk from possible HIV or hepatitis virus contaminants. Most preparations contain Factors II, VII and X also.
Factor IX concentrate may also be used to treat haemophilia A with anti-factor VIII antibodies.
