The most important diagnostic test for osteoarthritis is the x-ray of the affected joint.
Other investigations include:
- FBC and ESR are both normal
- RF is negative, unless osteoarthritis is secondary to rheumatoid arthritis
- synovial fluid aspiration / microscopy
- if gout is considered then serum uric acid
