Refer the patient to an emergency dentist or an A/E dept. This is a specialist subject but the following points may be useful:
Follow the immediate treatment advice given above.
If a tooth has been subluxed from its socket:
- push it back
- use local anaesthetic if necessary
If a tooth has been knocked right out:
- wash it in cool running water but don't touch the root
- reimplant the tooth immediately if the tooth is clean and the procedure tolerated
- store the tooth in milk as a transport medium if the tooth is still dirty or if the patient cannot tolerate the reimplantation procedure
