subglottic laryngeal carcinoma
Last reviewed 01/2018
The subglottis extends from the lower border of the cricoid to the under surface of the vocal cords. It is the least frequent site for laryngeal carcinoma to arise.
Cancer of the thyroid and the trachea may spread to the subglottis. Conversely, subglottic carcinoma may spread to the thyroid gland, in about 20% of cases, to the trachea, or to the strap muscles in the neck.
