divarication of recti
Last reviewed 01/2018
Divarication of recti describes the deviation of the two rectus abdominis muscles on either side of the midline from each other. It is most noticeable at the superior end of the recti.
It is due to laxity of the linea alba. The linea alba may be made weak by repeated midline operations or chronically raised intra-abdominal pressure.
